| Survey Results: Data at the Heart of Europe’s Media Future |
| Between February and April 2025, TEMS surveyed media organisations, cultural institutions, associations, and other actors across Europe. After a careful analysis of the responses, we can now share findings that reflect the real-world situation of organisations across the continent. |
- The message is clear: data is central to media operations, but strategies and resources remain fragmented.
- 6 key categories of data identified: Research, Content, Rights, Audience/Market, Technical, and Official/Administrative.
- Most organisations lack a clear data strategy — or only have partial, fragmented approaches.
- Top challenges: monetising content, integrating AI responsibly, navigating fragmented infrastructures, and dealing with budget constraints.
- Strong appetite for a European media data space to provide trust, interoperability, transparency, and sovereignty.

| In a dynamic session hosted by TEMS in Amsterdam, creatives, technologists, and researchers came together to reimagine how media and data can co-evolve. Using speculative design, participants explored bold, human-centered futures—where data governance is participatory, media infrastructures are equitable, and storytelling drives civic engagement. |

- Syndication & rights management: Standardizing metadata to improve discoverability and ensure fair rights and remuneration across platforms.
- VR & new formats: Sharing 3D data and enabling virtual production and gaming-based media formats.
