The 3rd BAIDATA Forum, held on May 2024 at the Bizkaia Aretoa in Bilbao, reinforced the BAIDATA association’s standing as the leading initiative for the data economy in the Iberian Peninsula. Nearly 400 attendees from over 180 organisations gathered to explore the endeavours of BAIDATA and its members in advancing data spaces.
This significant event saw participation from key European organisations driving the development of data spaces, such as IDSA and CATENA-X. Additionally, representatives from the Provincial Council of Bizkaia and numerous pioneering companies in the data economy were present, highlighting the Forum’s broad appeal and influence.
Among these, TEMS was represented by Innovalia. Its Managing Director, Oscar Lazaro, delivered a presentation about European data ecosystems. In his address, titled “Data Ecosystems in Europe: Scaling and Internationalising the Concept,” Lazaro explained that data ecosystems are infrastructures and networks that facilitate the exchange and use of data in a secure and efficient manner. These ecosystems adhere to standards on privacy protection and personal data security to drive economic development and innovation.
Other topics covered at the event included the internationalisation of data spaces, trust, global standards and reference models for data sharing, and a series of success stories in the data economy.
